Looking for a burlesque fix these Summer Holidays? Maison Burlesque is excited to present our first ever Summer School this January! Suitable for all levels of experience.

HOW IT WORKS:
Over two days we will be presenting 12 different two hour length workshops with our resident tutors and special guests!

There will be two workshop options at each time slot, so you can build your own program according to what you would like to learn. It's first in best (un)dressed though, so the sooner you book the more likely you will get your first preferences.

2 Day Pass
- Choose 6 x 2 hour workshops (3 workshops per day)
- Price: $265

1 Day Pass
- Choose 3 x 2 hour workshops on either Friday or Saturday
- Price: $145

Single workshops may become available for certain workshops in late December - subject to availability if allocations aren't already exhausted.
-Price: $55 per workshop

1 & 2 Day Pass Class Allocations:
Please nominate your workshop preferences at the time of booking. We will then email you your program within 48 hours of receiving your registration.
We will attempt to keep the website as up to date as possible when workshops book out. Should your first choice of workshop no longer be available we will allocate you a place in the other workshop in the same timeslot.

Friday 12th January:

Strut & Peel - Dolores Daiquiri
Join burlesque performer, instructor and producer Dolores Daiquiri in this workshop that will teach you to enhance your foundational burlesque skills and unleash them onstage for maximum wow factor! Explore various ways of doing glove and stocking peels as well as commanding the stage with your presence, body language and audience connection.

Vintage Styling - Poppy Cherry
New to vintage styling? Want to up your hair and makeup game for the next Cherry Poppers Showcase? Practice the art of Vintage Hair & Makeup styling in this introductory workshop with Poppy Cherry! With a main focus on getting that perfect vintage hair set and brushout, we will also cover some quick tricks of the trade to get a classic vintage makeup look including applying winged eyeliner, false lashes and lips! Suitable for beginners. What to bring: Curling iron, bobby pins, hair spray, hair brush, liquid eyeliner, mascara, lipstick. False lashes and lash glue can be purchased on the day if desired.

Showgirl Technique - Velma Vouloir
“Step kick kick leap kick touch, again!” Join Velma Vouloir for this 2hr breakdown of traditional dance based technique to help you gain confidence and add polish to your burlesque routines. This workshop will include learning the basics of showgirl walks, kicks, turns and styling and put those techniques together in a simple jazz based routine. Suitable for all levels!

Impulse & Imagination - Willow J
An Exploration in Improvised Movement. Free your body and stimulate your imagination with this movement based workshop with Willow J! Drawing inspiration from Butoh technique, Viewpoints and improvisation skills this workshop will enliven your mind and inspire your body to move in new and organic ways through triggering your imagination and natural impulses. A great way to find new forms of movement and activate your imagination! Open to all levels.

Blues Burlesque - Zelia Rose
Hot off her tour with Dita Von Teese, join Zelia Rose in this signature workshop: Blues Burlesque! In this class you will get to explore the sultry style of classic burlesque to the rockin sounds of 1940s-1960s blues music. Learn signature dance steps from these eras and the inspiration behind them with one of Australia’s most in demand showgirls. This workshop is all about sass, style and fun and is suitable for all levels!

Costuming 101 - Maple Rose
Want to make that dream costume a reality? Join burlesque performer & costume designer Maple Rose for this in depth look at creating costumes that are not only beautiful, but functional and original too! This workshop will break down all the steps required to create your dream outfit including: research, design, fabric sourcing, fastenings, embellishments and costume care as well as practical elements such as using your costume to aid characterisation and choreography. Suitable for all levels, including those with little or no sewing experience.

Burlesque Biz - Poppy Cherry
Want to break into the burlesque industry but don’t know where to start? Being a successful burlesque performer requires more than feathers and sparkles! Join seasoned industry professional Poppy Cherry and learn the nitty gritty of setting up and managing yourself as a small business. We discuss common burlesque rookie mistakes and how not to make them, as well as an overview of the current burlesque industry and its evolution over time. Learn to navigate the minefield that is marketing, promotion, social media, and getting those elusive gigs!

Spice Girls - Miss Jane Doe
“YO I tell ya what I want what I really really want?” - To be a Spice Girl for 2hrs! Who doesn’t need some Ginger, Baby, Posh, Scary & Sporty in their life! Join retro supervixen Miss Jane Doe as she takes you through some iconic 90s choreography straight out of a Spice Girls video clip! Students are encouraged to dress up for this one! No dance experience required.

Get in Character - Willow J
Explore the habits, characteristics and idiosyncrasies of the stage persona with Willow J! What is unique to your character? Through this workshop you'll be working with techniques on how to build a character and what it means step out of yourself and into character. Through playful exploration you will develop unique strengths and build your fully fleshed burlesque stage alter ego! Great for solo performers but all welcome to join in this playful exploration!

Dapper Flapper Gents - Bettie Bombshell
This fun, energetic workshop will take you back to a time of ragtime jazz and style. We will learn cane and hat tricks, beginner to intermediate charleston steps, and everything you need to become a dapper flapper gent! Miss Bettie Bombshell will have you dancing like Fred Astaire through the underground Speakeasy's of Melbourne in no time! Suitable for all levels of dance experience!

Burlesque: A History - Dolores Daiquiri
Take your classic burlesque to the next level! Join Dolores Daiquiri in this workshop that will teach you all about the origins of golden age burlesque and the women who paved its history! This class will involve a mixture of theory and practical work as students gain an understanding of signature burlesque moves from different eras and their cultural and historical relevance.

Tassels & Assels - Domino De Jour
Always wanted to try tassle twirling? How about assel twirling? Learn to shake it like a polaroid picture with Domino De Jour in this class that will cover the basics of making your own pasties at home as well as a boob and booty shaking workout to make those tassels twirl! Please note this class contains partial nudity as students will be required to wear a g-string for assel practice. BYO pasties or budget pasties available to purchase on the day.
